Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a Google tool for measuring access and analyzing navigation on websites and applications. The current version, Google Analytics 4 (GA4), organizes this measurement by events.

Falaê's direct integration saves an Analytics identifier for the branch. In forms, this identifier is still used by the old Universal Analytics measurement. To configure GA4, the alternative is a tag managed by Google Tag Manager, with flow validation in your container.

Before you start

Direct configuration via the GA ID field still uses the old Universal Analytics measurement. Although the screen accepts identifiers with the G- prefix, saving this ID does not implement GA4 collection. Universal Analytics has been terminated by Google; For new measurements, use the flow through Google Tag Manager described below.

  • Have a Google Analytics 4 property with a Web data stream and Editor or higher access to query the measurement ID.
  • Have a Google Tag Manager web container connected to Falaê branch, with access to edit and publish tags. If you need to connect the container, please follow the Google Tag Manager guide.
  • Access the Integrations screen in Falaê to configure or check the connection. The Cashier profile cannot configure integrations.

Check your Google Analytics property, container, and selected branch in Falaê before you begin.

How to configure the integration

The procedure below sets up a GA4 tag through the Google Tag Manager integration. It depends on the tags and triggers published in your account; does not change the functioning of the GA ID direct option.

  1. Go to Google Analytics and select the GA4 property that will receive the data.
  2. In Admin, open Data Collection and Modification and click Data streams. Select the Web tab, open the desired flow, and copy the Measurement ID, which starts with G-.
  3. In Google Tag Manager, open the container connected to Falaê branch. In Workspace, go to Tags and click New. If there is already a Google tag for this destination, check the existing one before creating another one.
  4. Give the tag a name. In Tag Configuration, choose Google Tag and fill in Tag ID with the G- identifier copied from Analytics.
  5. Under Triggering, select Initialization: All Pages and click Save.
  6. Click Preview, enter the link to a branch survey and click Connect. Check in Tag Assistant whether the Google tag is activated, how often this happens and the behavior when progressing to the thank you page. The current survey initialization may load the container twice.
  7. After validating, click Submit, select Publish and create version and click Publish, filling in the version information.
  8. Open the form again outside of preview mode and check that access has been received on the correct GA4 property. Reports may take some time to present data.

The ID G- is reported in the Google tag, within GTM. In Falaê, the connection to this flow uses the GTM ID of the container. You do not need to fill in the GA ID direct option to measure by GTM.

See the official guidance for finding measurement ID and setting up Google Analytics in Tag Manager.

How integration works

In direct integration, the form receives the GA ID value along with the survey and branch data and performs pageview calls in the old Universal Analytics format. The code loaded by this option does not implement GA4 collection.

When using GTM, the form loads the configured container for the branch. Submission to the web stream associated with ID G- depends on the Google tag and triggers you've published and validated. You query the events received on the Google Analytics property.

The survey's internal navigation does not automatically generate new viewing calls through Falaê at each stage. To measure these changes through GA4, configure virtual page measurement as per official guidance for single page applications. Check the existing rules before combining measurement methods, to avoid duplication.

Measurement starts with accesses made after configuring and publishing the tag. It does not recover visits made before installation. Report processing follows Google Analytics refresh intervals.

Measuring form hits is different from recording completed responses. This setting does not automatically send NPS scores or comments to Analytics; Additional events depend on specific configuration and validation.

Questions and maintenance

What happens when filling out GA ID in direct integration?

On Falaê Integrations screen, the Google Analytics card, in the Marketing category, presents the GA ID field and the Configure button. The screen accepts the G- and UA- formats and saves the identifier for the branch.

The message Google Analytics integration successful. confirms that the ID has been saved. It does not confirm the receipt of events by GA4. To measure using GA4, use the GTM configuration in this guide.

How do I confirm that the collection is working?

Use Preview in GTM to check the tag triggering and check the events in the correct Analytics property. For a more detailed analysis, see Google's guidance for monitoring events in DebugView.

If the hits don't appear, check the IDs, container publication, and branch link used in the test. Tracking blockers can also prevent collection.

Can I use total views as the number of responses?

No. Falaê does not send a specific survey completion event for this integration. The current initialization may also repeat container loading and pageview calls. Test links do not disable tracking.

Validate the incoming events and count in your container before using this data as an indicator of participation or conversion.

How to change the property that receives the data?

In GTM, update the tag with the ID G- of the new web flow, test and publish the change. If the container remains the same, you do not need to change the GTM ID in Falaê.

How to disconnect the integration?

If you configured GA4 through GTM, open the corresponding tag in Tags, access the three-dot menu and select Pause. Click Save and publish the change. See official guidance for pausing tags.

To turn off the entire container in the branch's forms, open Google Tag Manager on Falaê Integrations screen and click Cancel integration. This action also stops the other tags loaded by this container when the form receives the updated data from the branch.

If there is an ID saved in the direct option, open Google Analytics in Falaê and click Cancel integration. This removes the GA ID value for that branch, but does not disable a GA4 tag published separately by GTM or delete the property in Google Analytics.

After canceling, close or reload open forms to check the effect. Navigating between steps in an already open tab does not consult the branch configuration again.
